Two Boxers earn invites to all-star football games
Seniors Devin Lagorio and Craig Bailey secure postseason all-star nods
Two members of Pacific Universitys first football recruiting class are ending their Boxer careers by participating in Division III postseason all-star games.
Defensive tackle Devin Lagorio has earned selection to the National Bowl Game, which will take place on Sunday, Dec. 8, in Miami, Fla. Cornerback Craig Bailey will participate in the Tazon de Estrellas (Bowl of the Stars) on Saturday, Dec. 21, in Monterrey, Mexico. The two are the only representatives from Northwest Conference schools in either game.
Lagorio will play on the National Bowl Games Blue Nation team, which is comprised of players from Division II, Division III and NAIA schools. A second team All-Northwest Conference selection in 2013, Lagorio was a four-year anchor for the defensive line, finishing sixth on the team with 38 tackles, including 2.5 sacks and eight tackles for loss. He also led the Boxers and the NWC with three blocked kicks.
Bailey, meanwhile, is one of 51 seniors from 25 Division III schools that will play on the Stars & Stripes squad in the Tazon de Estrellas against Mexicos CONADEIP All-Stars. Bailey proved to be an incredibly dynamic cornerback, finishing the season with 32 tackles and ranking sixth in the NWC with three interceptions.
