Swanson ties for medalist at Tualatin CC
Forest Grove's Hannah Swanson ties for the individual title at Monday's league match
Hannah Swanson is off to a great start this golf season.
Swanson, a Forest Grove sophomore, fired a round of 77 on Monday to tie for individual medalist honors at the Pacific Conference girls golf tournament at Tualatin Country Club, almost singlehandedly powering the Lady Vikings to a fourth-place team finish.
Swanson won every regular-season conference event last year before capturing a district championship in May and eventually finishing 11th at the Class 6A state tournament in Creswell.
She's on pace to match last year's streak after earning a share of first place at Monday's conference match. Swanson shot a round of five-over par 77 to tie for medalist honors with Tualatin's Hayley Mortensen and Emily Weiglin, both of whom were playing on their home course.
Tualatin won the match with a team score of 336, easily beating second-place Tigard (406). Forest Grove finished fourth as a team (441), getting rounds of 113 from Jillian Aspholm, 119 from Madison Woods, 132 from Emily Keller and 143 from Amanda Horne.
The Lady Vikings will return to action next Tuesday for a Pacific Conference tournament at Meriwether Golf Course in Hillsboro. The action moves to Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club on April 24, and Forest Grove will host its only event of the year on May 1 at Quail Valley Golf Course.
