Fish oil is good stuff for dogs and cats

NATURE'S PET - Karen SottileWhile most people know about the health benefits of fish oil (Omega-3's) for humans, not all are aware of the benefits for their pets.

Fish oil is the single most important supplement you can give your dog or cat. Even better, your pet will love the taste!

Omega-3's benefit brain development, lessen joint problems, help prevent cancer and curb skin problems for your pets (especially those with itching caused by seasonal allergies). Fish oil also enhances the flavor of pet food.

We carry salmon, Pollock and krill oils formulated for animals. The oil comes in liquid form and the packaging includes guidelines on the number of pumps to use, based on the animal's weight. Just drizzle the oil over the pet food and watch your pet dig in.

Fish oil supplements are stable and more easily measured than Omega-3's that are cooked into the food. Though fish oil can be stored at room temperature, I prefer to keep mine refrigerated to ensure maximum freshness.

Consult with your veterinarian before adding fish oil to your pet's diet.

When shopping for fish oil for your pet, get it from a reputable source that is close to where the fish were caught. Our oils are derived from fish caught in Alaska.

Current research says fish oil is more effective on joint pain than glucosamine-chondroitin.
