Wood Village man sentenced for murder

by: MULTNOMAH COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE - Charles Edward PelhamA Wood Village man who stabbed a 45-year-old man to death outside a bar in Northeast Portland bar in 2010 was sentenced to 25 years in prison last week.

Charles Edward Pelham, 53, was charged in the murder of Todd James Young of Northeast Portland, who died at the scene.

Police were called at about 12:41 a.m. Sept. 25, 2010, to Paddy’s Old Irish Café in the 1700 block of Northeast 122nd Avenue, where they found a man on the ground with a stab wound. Two people were performing CPR on the victim. Medical personnel arrived and determined that the victim had died.

Witnesses told police the man was arguing with someone else when he was stabbed. The other person ran away.

Police found and arrested Pelham the next day.

Pelham will serve his sentence at the Coffee Creek Correctional Institution in Wilsonville, according to Multnomah County jail records.
