Burn ban declared in East County

Burn ban also declared in Portland

Gresham Fire and Emergency Services has declared a complete Burn Ban in East County effective Thursday, Aug. 16.

Until further notice, yard debris burning, agricultural burning, burning with a permit, and recreational campfires (including man-made fire pits and store-bought outdoor fireplaces) will not be allowed in Gresham, Troutdale, Fairview, Wood Village and the unincorporated areas in Multnomah County Fire District 10.

These restrictions are due to the Red Flag Warning and Excessive Heat Warnings now in effect, in addition to the east winds that are expected over the next few days.

Barbecuing is still allowed, but citizens should exercise extreme caution when using charcoal briquettes.

Portland also declares burn ban

The Portland Fire Marshal has also issued a total ban of all outdoor burning effective immediately and will remain in effect until weather and fire danger conditions improve.

Citations may be issued to those who violate the outdoor burning ban.

Cooking outdoors in approved propane or charcoal barbecues is allowed during this total burning ban. Recreational fires, campfires and fires in outdoor fireplaces or chiminea-type devices are not allowed during this burning ban.
