Mistake leads to McFury, McCustody

— It all started with onions on a burger at McDonald's —

Employees at a Gresham McDonald’s were not “lovin’ it” Sunday afternoon when a customer went ballistic over a botched attempt to get a refund for a mistake with his order.

The customer — Jayne John Leon, 50, of Gresham — reportedly ordered a quarter pounder without onions at the McDonald's in the 2200 block of Northeast 181st Avenue, left and then called the restaurant to complain there were onions on his burger, said Sgt. Claudio Grandjean, Gresham police spokesman.Jayme Leon

An employee offered to refund his money and give him a new onion-free quarter pounder.

But when the man returned to the restaurant, employees realized that the customer had already eaten the burger.

“So they didn’t refund his money, which sent him into a McFury,” Granjean said. The man then allegedly threw a pop in the manager’s face, broke some glass and damaged a cash register.

“Officers stopped him a short distance from the scene and took him into McCustody,” Grandjean added.

Police arrested Leon on allegations of first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree disorderly conduct and harassment. He was released later that night.
