Police seek help IDing stabber

Gresham Police are asking the public for help identifying a man who stabbed a woman Thursday night in the city's Rockwood area.

Officers were dispatched at 10:42 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, to the Plaid Pantry at Southeast 181st Avenue and Stark Street after a woman reported being stabbed.

Sharlene L. Daniels, 24, of the East County area had been stabbed in the torso and hand, said Sgt. Claudio Grandjean, Gresham police spokesman.

She was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.

Police determined that she was stabbed by an acquaintance behind a restaurant in the 18100 block of Southeast Stark Street.

Police have a very limited description of the suspect due to the victim's condition. He is described as an African-American male, about 17 years old, wearing a black hooded jacket and possibly with an afro.

Detectives believe the suspect and victim were in the area of Northeast 193rd Avenue and East Burnside Street before the stabbing. They left the area together with the victim on a bike. The suspect also may have been on the bike with her.

Anyone with details about the suspect's identity or who witnessed the crime is asked to call the Gresham Police Department at 503-618-2365.
