Police arrest boy, 17, for attempted murder

Police arrested a 17-year-old Fairview boy on an allegation of attempted murder in the Oct. 4 stabbing of a woman in Gresham.

Gresham and Fairview officers arrested Patrick Roy Kirby III in his apartment in the 22700 block of Northeast Halsey Street at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, said Lt. Claudio Grandjean, Gresham police spokesman.

He reportedly stabbed a woman — Sharlene L. Daniels, 24, of East County — in the torso and hand following a fight about a stolen bike at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, Grandjean said.

Police found the woman at a convenience store at Southeast 181st Avenue and Stark Street, but detectives believe she was stabbed behind a nearby restaurant.

The victim was transported to a local hospital in serious condition. “She is recuperating from her injuries and is expected to recover,” Grandjean said.

Kirby now faces an attempted murder charge and is being held at the Donald E. Long juvenile detention center.
