A man was hit and killed by a car while walking in the eastern Multnomah County town of Boring Monday night.

The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office reports that a Nissan Altima struck the victim at approximately 7:50 p.m. in the 35600 block of Southeast Lusted Road.

Gresham firefighters and paramedics responded and attempted lifesaving efforts, but he died at the scene.

The adult male driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, the sheriff’s office said. The name of the driver and victim were not immediately released.

The East County Vehicular Crimes Team is investigating the cause of the crash. Lusted Road was expected to remain closed for several hours.
