Alleged drunk driver hits two pedestrians near Milwaukie

A Gresham woman has been upgraded to good condition after being hit by a car early Sunday, Oct. 28.

Talitha M. Bliven, 29, of Gresham and Quincy L. Young, 31, of Southeast Portland are recovering from their injuries at Oregon Health & Science University. Young is in fair condition and Bliven has been upgraded from serious condition, a hospital spokesman said.

The two were crossing Highway 99E from the east side to the west side at Park Avenue south of Milwaukie at 1:37 a.m. when a southbound 2007 Dodge Charger hit them in the left southbound lane, said Lt. Gregg Hastings, Oregon State Police spokesman.

Police arrested the driver — Sandra Kay Brewster, 48, of Milwaukie — on allegations of driving under the influence of intoxicants, third-degree assault, recklessly endangering another person.

The intersection is controlled by electrical turn signals with marked crosswalks and overhead street lighting, Hastings said. Police had to close the southbound lanes for about 90 minutes to investigate the scene.

Witnesses to the crash are asked to call Oregon State Trooper Alex Monarch at 503-731-3020, ext. 477.
