A recount Friday, Nov. 30, by Multnomah County Elections confirms Wilson's 4-vote lead

After Multnomah County Elections conducted a recount Friday in the race for Position 6 on Troutdale City Council, John Wilson emerged the winner.

Only four votes separated Wilson and Zach Hudson in the race, automatically constituting a recount, Eric Sample, program communications and web specialist for Multnomah County Elections, said.John Wilson

The vote count for Wilson — 1,897, or 40.20 percent of the vote — and Hudson — 1,893, or 40.11 percent of the vote — did not change; however, one additional vote was added for the third candidate, Tom Slyter.

“I have a lot of respect for the people at the election office making sure every vote was counted,” Wilson said. “I hope Zach and Tom will stay involved with the city through committees.”

Wilson, 56, is an advertising account executive for Pamplin Media Group, which owns The Outlook and several other Portland-area newspapers.

His previous political experience includes the Troutdale Budget Committee, the Redevelopment Committee for the sewer treatment plant, vice chairman of the Riverfront Renewal Advisory Committee and Measure 26-77 Committee chairman.

Wilson has worked on the Troutdale SummerFest for 12 years, serving as the chairman for six years. He is past president and a current member of the Troutdale Kiwanis.

He was the 2002 Troutdale Citizen of the Year.

“I have a love for the city, I’m open-minded, and I want to see Troutdale stay the great city it is,” Wilson said in an earlier interview with The Outlook.
