Burglary

Police responded to a residence in the 22700 block of Northeast Halsey Street at 11:58 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, on a report of a burglary.

Shortly before midnight, a woman and her mother arrived home to find her son’s piggy bank emptied on the living room with about $50 in change missing, as well as clothing strewn on the floor and $300 hidden in a bedroom dresser also gone.

Jewelry, DVDs and other items of value lying on top of dresser were not taken.

The victim’s ex-boyfriend temporarily staying at the house was a possible suspect as he was last to leave the house.

However, when police confronted the man at his job in Troutdale, the man denied taking the money, cooperatively showing police his wallet, which had only $1 in it. Police searched his vehicle and found nothing.

Found property

A cleaning woman called police at 7 p.m. April 18 after she discovered black tar heroin wrapped in a tinfoil bag along with a torn $1 bill in the kitchen drawer of an apartment in the 20400 block of Northeast Sandy Boulevard.

It was believed to be the property of former residents who moved out a few weeks before. Police confiscated the substance and weighed it at the station before placing it into evidence to be destroyed.
