Man appears to be a transient who died of natural causes

A body found on Thursday, June 20, by a landscaping crew in Troutdale is believed to be that of a transient.

Landscapers discovered the man's body at about 11:15 a.m. under a tree near Southwest Cherry Park Road and Southwest Sturges Drive.

“It appeared to be a natural death of a transient,” said Lt. Joel Wendland of the Troutdale Police Department.

Tom Chappelle, Multnomah County deputy medical examiner, said the man's identity has not yet been confirmed.

The case is still being investigated.

While Chapelle could provide no other details related to the man's cause of death, he said, “There is nothing suspicious about the death at all.”

The discovery of the body alarmed landscapers of Brickman Group from Vancouver, Wash.

According to Linsey Engh, divisional administrator at Brickman Group in Puyallup Wash., the crew quickly walked away from the body and called police.

“It was very disturbing for our crew,” Engh said.
