Man wanted for robbing cab drivers turns himself in

A man is behind bars after turning himself in to police on the Fourth of July following media reports that he was wanted in connection to four armed robberies.by: MULTNOMAH COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE - Eric Deshaunte Russell

Eric Deshaunte Russell, 29, a transient with ties in Gresham and Portland, is accused of robbing four cab drivers in outer East Portland and Gresham between March 24 and June 16.

Russell called police at 1:50 p.m. and was taken into custody without incident by Portland Police in the 11900 block of Northeast Sandy Blvd. He was lodged at the Multnomah County Detention Center on four counts of robbery.

Russell reportedly robbed the drivers at knife point of cash and iPhones after arriving at his destinations. The first was on March 24, but the remainder within a 10-day period in June.

Two robberies reportedly took place in the 800 block of Southeast 187th Avenue, with two more in the 17800 block of Northeast Oregon Street and the 16500 block of Northeast Glisan Street

None of the victims were physically harmed during the robberies.
