A suspicious package found Wednesday at a Social Security Administration Office in Gresham turned out to contain documents and no hazardous devices or substances, police said.

Staff discovered the package in the building, located at 17925 S.E. Division St., at about 8 a.m. Aug. 7, said Det. John Rasmussen, Gresham Police spokesman. The Metro Bomb Squad cleared the scene and investigated, along with the multi-jurisdictional Explosive Device Unit and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The package contained nothing more than paperwork, said Lt. Steve Alexander, Multnomah County Sheriff's Office spokesman.
