The Historic Columbia River Highway, U.S. 30, will be closed midnight Monday, Sept. 9, to midnight Tuesday, Sept. 10, while crews repair the bridge at Latourell Falls.

The highway's eastbound lanes will be closed at Latourell Falls and the westbound lanes will be closed at Crown Point. The Latourell Falls parking lot, Vista House and Crown Point will remain open.

The repairs are part of a series of road improvements that are part of a project to restore the 600-foot viaduct surrounding Vista House.

The viaduct's 29 support columns are deteriorating and need to be restored so it can continue to hold the weight of larger vehicles passing through.

Drivers can expect occasional lane closures in area in September and October.

The project is expect to be completed by the end of fall.
