Update • Officials identify Leslie Charles Armstrong as drowning victim
The body of a man recovered from the bank of the Sandy River this weekend has been identified as a local man.
Leslie Charles Armstrong, 54, accidentally drowned in the river, said Lt. Steve Alexander, Multnomah County Sheriff's Office spokesman. Armstrong was known to live in mobile home parks in Troutdale and Gresham.
Sheriff's deputies recovered the man's body on the east bank of the Sandy River near Jordan Road in Corbett on Sunday, Jan. 29.
An angler at about 3 p.m. reported finding the body across from Lewis and Clark State Park. Deputies and volunteers from the Corbett Fire Department responded and recovered the body.
