Gang prevention night set for Feb. 9

A Gang Prevention Parent Education Night is set for 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, in the Centennial High School auditorium, 3505 S.E. 182nd Ave.

The event is free and is held in cooperation with the Gresham City Council's Youth Advisory Committee and Centennial High School. The East Metro Gang Enforcement Team will be on hand to tell parents how to recognize if their children are being recruited to join a gang or are being bullied, what signs of gang involvement to look for in a child, what parents can do about it, how police interact with gang members and alternative after-school activities for students to prevent them from joining a gang.

A question-and-answer session with the gang enforcement team also is planned as part of the event.

No registration is required. For more information, call Cathy Harrington at 503-618-2482.
