A masked man robbed a Gresham motel at gunpoint, leaving the night clerk tied up early Sunday, Sept. 15.

Gresham police at 3:09 a.m. responded to a call from the Holiday Inn clerk who managed to free himself in the 2700 block of Northeast Hogan Drive, said Officer Malaka Kerbs, Gresham police spokeswoman.

The victim told police that the masked suspect walked into the motel, pointed a gun at him and demanded money. He also claimed to have a bomb and was carrying a black bag.

After getting an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect tied up the night clerk and fled the scene. Police used a canine officer to try to find the suspect, but were unable to find him.

the suspect is described as a man wearing all black clothes, gloves and a ski mask over his head and face. It isn't known whether he was acting alone or had an accomplice. Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Gresham police tipline at 503-618-2719 or 888-989-3505.
