Crash victim remains in serious condition

A 19-year-old Troutdale man remains in serious condition more than two weeks after a motorcycle crash that killed a young woman from Troutdale.

Kaleb Jarvis, 19, sustained life-threatening injuries during the Wednesday, Sept. 11, crash that killed Tatiana Ofa, also 19, and of Troutdale. Jarvis remains hospitalized at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in serious condition.

The westbound 2007 Kawasaki 650 Ninja motorcycle they were on lost control, went off the road and crashed into a rocky embankment on the shoulder of the road at the intersection of Southeast Stark Street and Kerslake Road just before 11:20 p.m., according to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office.

Both were ejected from the bike. Ofa was pronounced dead at the scene and Jarvis was transported to a hospital.

The Multnomah County Vehicular Crimes Team is investigating but has not been able to interview Jarvis. "He is unable to speak at this time," said Lt. Derrick Peterson, a sheriff's office spokesman.
