Police in Las Vegas arrest man wanted for Gresham murder
US Marshals arrested a Gresham man on Thursday, Oct. 3, near Las Vegas on a murder warrant for the shooting death of a Gresham man.
Brandon Alexander Hickman, 28, of Gresham, was taken into custody without incident at about 7 p.m. in the Las Vegas suburb of Henderson and lodged at the Clark County (Nevada) Jail, on the warrant for the Sept. 9 murder of a local man.
Gresham police two weeks ago issued an alert that Hickman, considered armed and dangerous, was wanted on a homicide warrant for the death of Makeitho "Tito" De Monz Herring, 37, of Gresham. Police found Herring dead just before 11 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at an apartment complex in the 700 block of N.E. 178th Ave.
The East County Major Crimes Team eventually identified Hickman as the suspect and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Police also sent out an alert that Hickman's girlfriend, Ellysia Aimee Colvin, 21, of Gresham, was wanted for questioning as a "key witness" in the case. Both Hickman and Colvin lived in the same apartment complex where Herring was found dead in the parking lot.
Gresham detectives are now in Las Vegas to get Hickman's statement. He will be charged and extradited to Oregon for prosecution on the Gresham murder charge.
