The North Clackamas County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a debate about the merits of Damascus disincorporating, which Damascus residents are voting on Nov. 5, from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Deep Creek Elementary School, 15600 S.E. 232nd Drive in Damascus.

If approved, Measure 2-433 would eliminate the city, allowing the community to revert back to being an unincorporated area governed by Clackamas County. Chris Hawes, disincorporation campaign manager, will speak in favor of the measure, with Mark Fitz, a Damascus planning commissioner, speaking in opposition to it.

The debate will start with prepared statements and questions from the chamber, and will end with audience questions asked by a moderator. For more details, call the chamber at 503-654-7777.
