Man sentenced in 2011 assault at Gresham bar

Jose Antonio Reyes-Reyes, 31, of Gresham has been sentenced to two years in prison after an assault last September outside Golden Star Tavern, a Gresham bar, that left the victim unable to walk or talk.

Following an argument, police reported, Reyes-Reyes punched 27-year-old Serveriano Waldo-Perez of Gresham, knocking him to the ground and causing his head to hit the pavement, shattering his skull and leading to brain damage.

In January, Reyes-Reyes pleaded guilty to second-degree assault.

On Thursday, Feb. 2, a judge sentenced Reyes-Reyes to two years in prison and three years' post-prison supervision, said Traci Anderson, deputy district attorney at Multnomah County District Attorney's Office.

Reyes-Reyes is in the country illegally, so he faces deportation once he serves his sentence.
