Fairview woman injured in crash near Barton
A Fairview woman was seriously injured in a near head-on traffic collision with a Happy Valley man Friday afternoon, Feb. 17, on Highway 224 west of Barton.
Gina M. Newman, 44, was eastbound on Highway 224 in a 2005 Toyota Scion around 2:18 p.m. and was negotiating a curve near milepost 14 when she crossed the centerline, Oregon State Police said. She collided with a 2003 Ford F-350 pickup, driven by Kenneth E. Stricklin of Happy Valley.
Newman was extricated from her car and taken to Oregon Health and Science University with serious injuries. She was in fair condition as of Monday morning, Feb. 20.
Newman was using safety restraints, and her car's airbags deployed.
Stricklin received minor injuries and was taken to an unidentified hospital. He was using safety restraints, and his truck's airbags deployed.
Highway 224 was closed for nearly 30 minutes. Oregon State Police troopers were assisted by the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, Clackamas County Fire District 1 and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
