Two injured in Highway 217 collision caused by wrong-way driver
Gresham woman involved in crash
A wrong-way driver on Highway 217 early Sunday morning caused a head-on collision involving two other people, including a Gresham woman, near the Walker Road off-ramp.
The accident happened at about 2:57 a.m. and closed the highway's northbound lanes for several hours.
Beaverton police said 27-year-old Erin Douge of Lake Oswego was driving a blue Toyota Yaris south in the northbound highway lanes near the Walker Road off-ramp. The Yaris collided head-on with a teal Chevrolet Cavalier driven by 38-year-old Hermelo Juarez-Garcia of Portland.
The Cavalier then collided with a silver Audi A4 driven by Hillary Maxfield of Gresham. She was not seriously injured and was not taken to a hospital.
Douge was taken to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Juarez-Garcia was taken to Oregon Health and Science University Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said charges are pending for Douge.
The Washington County Crash Analysis Team is investigating the incident.
