Gresham will sing in the holiday season with the 22nd annual Spirit of Christmas tree lighting Saturday, Nov. 30, in the Arts Plaza, 401 N.E. Second St.

The event starts at 5 p.m., with the 60-foot ponderosa pine tree lit promptly at 6 p.m.

The music-filled program includes performances by the Gresham Community Choir, Gresham Christmas Choir and the Men in Black.

Santa Claus will make a special appearance to hand out candy canes and help lead the countdown to the tree lighting.

Event attendees will be treated to hot cocoa and cider provided by Servpro of Gresham, an event sponsor.

The public is encouraged to bring nonperishable food items to benefit SnowCap Community Charities.

The Spirit of Christmas also features activities in historic downtown Gresham before and after the tree lighting, hosted by local businesses and organizations.

They include:

10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Photos with Santa and crafts at the Gresham History Museum.

11 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Music, games and fun with Radio Disney on Main Avenue.

11 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Gingerbread decorating for children at iCandy.

11 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Mini cupcake decorating for children at Bella Cupcake.

11 a.m. to 7 p.m. — Free Mexican hot chocolate at the Tamale Factory.

6:30-9:30 p.m. — Christmas jazz with the Tim Paxton Quartet at the Hoppy Brewer.

7-8:30 p.m. — Live Christmas music at Cafe Delirium.
