Gresham woman critically injured in crash
Witnesses say her car sped into the back of building
Clackamas County sheriff's deputies are investigating a car crash into the back wall of a Best Buy building in Clackamas that left a Gresham woman critically injured Monday, Feb. 27.
The driver, Olha Andrukhovych, 59, and passenger, Mariya Bosvyk, 61, both of Gresham, were transported from the scene to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center.
Andrukhovych was listed in critical condition Tuesday, a hospital spokeswoman said. Bosvyk is still at the hospital but is in good condition.
At 10:55 a.m. Monday, deputies responded to a report that a vehicle crashed into the rear of the Best Buy store in the 9600 block of Southeast 82nd Avenue, according to sheriff's reports.
Witnesses told investigators the 2005 Nissan Sentra had been moving slowly through the TriMet Park and Ride lot on Southeast Fuller Road just before the crash. Suddenly the car accelerated and sped from the lot, crossing Fuller, jumping the curb, hitting a small tree and coming to a stop in the rear of the Best Buy building.
The crash didn't damage the building, and no employees or customers were injured.
The sheriff's office is still investigating the crash and so far hasn't issued traffic violation citations.
