P.E.O. Gresham chapter awards college grant
The P.E.O. Foundation's board of directors has awarded a $2,000 grant to Tamara Slagter of Portland, which she will use for her continuing education.
The P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) Foundation is a nonprofit corporation that encourages donations to the P.E.O. Sisterhood, a women's organization that promotes and supports educational opportunities for women.
Slagter, who was sponsored by Chapter DW of Gresham, received a continuing education grant that is awarded to women returning to college after a two-year absence from school.
Slagter will graduate in May from Cascade College in Portland with a certification in medical records and decoding. She is valedictorian of her class.
The P.E.O. Foundation offers five educational scholarships for women. For more information, visit peointernational.org.
