A complete story will be published in the Saturday, March 10, edition of The Outlook.

Mayor Shane Bemis released the following statement:

"Gresham lost a champion today, an unyielding promoter of our city, a matriarch of the finest form. As much as any single person could, Gussie McRobert put Gresham on the map. She presided over years of rapid growth and vast changes in the community, always with her eye, and passion, focused on making Gresham a better place. Gresham's iconic, protected buttes and natural areas, visible from almost anywhere in town, stand as enduring physical reminders of Gussie's leadership and ability to sell her vision.

"As we mourn our loss today, we also celebrate her unique contribution and fiery personality. There will never be another Gussie McRobert. There simply couldn't be.

"Starting today, I am requesting that the city of Gresham flag at City Hall be flown at half-staff for 10 business days, one day for each year she served as mayor."
