Celebrate 150 years of library love

Residents are invited to celebrate Multnomah County Library's 150th birthday and show their "library love" by writing love notes to their library.

Events are planned at each library branch Saturday, Feb. 15, including fun family craft activities and treats.

In 1864, a small group of Portland citizens gathered to establish a subscription library and reading room, organizing under the name "Library Association of Portland."

The library became tax-supported and free to the public in 1902, opening to all residents of Multnomah County in 1903.

The Gresham Library event will run 3-4 p.m.; Fairview-Columbia will run 2-3 p.m.; Rockwood will run 1:30-2:30 p.m.; and Troutdale will run 3-4 p.m.

The events are first come, first served.

SnowCap dinner rescheduled March 15

SnowCap Community Charities has postponed its annual Valentine's dinner and auction benefit until Saturday, March 15, due to inclement weather.
