Cherry Park church blesses cyclists with bike ride June 22

Seeking God’s blessing and protection for all those who ride bikes, Cherry Park Presbyterian Church will host “A Blessing of the Bicycles” at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, June 22.

The event begins at noon with free hot dogs and hamburgers, and a moment of silence for those in the Portland area who have been injured or killed while cycling.

Next, for those interested, there will be a 2-mile bike ride starting at the church at 348 Cherry Park Road in Troutdale.

The all-right-turn route will snake through Sunrise Park and then back down Hensley Road.

All ages are welcome to bring their bikes and join.

Cherry Park Pastor Tom Young said he plans to make this an annual event helping to mark the start of summer.

“We hope it will grow too,” Young said.
