MHCC seeking applicants for open board seat

The Mt. Hood Community College Board of Education is seeking applicants to fill a seat that was vacated by Maggie Nelson on June 7.

Nelson, who served in the zone 3 position, said she stepped down for personal reasons.

The appointee will serve the remainder of the term through May 2015, at which point an election will be held.

The Mt. Hood Community College District Board of Education is composed of seven members elected to four-year terms. Five of the positions are elected from specific district zones, and two are elected from the district at large.

An eligible board member for this position must be a qualified voter in the district and a resident of zone 3, a citizen of the state of Oregon and be at least 18.

The college will accept applications for this seat through Thursday, July 31. For more information or to apply, visit
