Roads in East County will be paved in July and August

Work will take place on weekdays 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. starting next week

Several roads traveling through Fairview, Wood Village and east Gresham will be repaved in July and August as part of a two-phase project planned by Multnomah County.

Most field work will take place on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., said Mike Pullen, spokesman for Multnomah County.

There will be some lane and road closures, but local access will be provided to residents and emergency vehicles at all times, the county said.

The first phase of the project begins Monday, July 7.

Traffic lanes on the following road segments will be repaved:

n Northeast Sandy Boulevard from the cul-de-sac east of Northeast 238th Drive to Northeast 223rd Avenue.

n Northeast 238th Drive from Northeast Sandy Boulevard to Northeast Arata Road

n Southeast Troutdale Road from Southeast Division Drive to Southeast 282nd Ave. A full closure is required for this segment.

County crews will use a method that recycles the road’s existing asphalt after it is combined with new bonding material.

The second phase of the project is scheduled for late July and early August and will include a final overlay on the roads to seal the asphalt and lane striping.

The roads again include:

n Northeast Sandy Boulevard from the cul-de-sac east of Northeast 238th Drive to Northeast 223rd Avenue.

n Northeast 238th Drive from Northeast Sandy Boulevard to Northeast Glisan Street. A full closure is required from Arata Road to Glisan Street.

n Southeast Troutdale Road from Southeast Division Drive to Southeast 282nd Ave. A full closure is require of this segment, as crews work to chip seal the road.

Northeast 238th Drive will be closed several days and nights during the paving, Pullen said.

During the closure through traffic can detour to alternative north-south routes, such as Northeast 223rd Avenue and Northeast 257th Drive, via Halsey and Glisan/Cherry Park Road.

A detour will also be posted for the Southeast Troutdale Road closure.

Gallagher Asphalt Corporation and Lakeside Industries are the contractors for the project, which is funded by Multnomah County.

Schedules are weather permitting and subject to change, Pullen said.
