• Site tours are expected to begin Aug. 27 • Donations are being accepted for a multimedia wall

By the end of the month, the Reynolds High School gym complex will have a fresh new look.

Reynolds School District plans to offer site tours at the project’s expected completion Wednesday, Aug. 27.

Reynolds Superintendent Linda Florence and Principal Architect Deb France of Oh Planning & Design released further details of the project earlier this week.

“We have been very concerned about our high school students returning to school in the fall after the devastating event at the end of the year,” said Reynolds Superintendent Linda Florence. “We did not want our students to be regularly reminded of the tragedy of that day with the appearance of the lobby remaining virtually changed.”

Florence said the school board had already approved renovations of the boys and girls locker rooms. In the aftermath of the June 10 shooting, the board decided to expand the gym's renovations with cosmetic upgrades to the lobby and restrooms.

Florence and France said the hope is that students, staff, parents and community members will feel welcomed back to the athletic facility with its contemporary upgrades.

“Our schools are magical places of learning and they need to be inspiring places for our students to go in with their imaginations and to explore the possibilities of tomorrow,” France said.

France helped the district connect with building material suppliers, vendors and contractors. Together with other businesses, organizations and leaders, the community has donated money, materials and labor for the upgrades.

Along with the upgrades, which include trophy cases and security door entrances, the district is raising funds through the Reynolds Education Foundation for a multimedia display wall six panels by two panels that can showcase schedules, videos and special events.

“We have seen such an outpouring of love and hope from Reynolds community and we thank them greatly for this support to do the important work of the school district,” Florence said.

Checks may be sent to the foundation at 1204 N.E. 201st Ave. Fairview, 97024, via PayPal under Reynolds Education Foundation or by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
