Virtual school marks 10-year mark

This school year marks the 10th anniversary for Oregon Connections Academy, a virtual school for students across the state.

“I’m very proud of the commitment we’ve made over the years providing a quality personalized education for our students,” said Executive Director Candy Farthing. “We are continuously creating new and exciting opportunities to enhance the student learning experience and better serve our families."

Statewide, more than 3,700 students grade K-12 are expected to start classes next week through Oregon Connections Academy.

According to a recent parent survey, half of parents agreed with the statement, “I have a child who does not learn well in a traditional school.”

Forty-three percent said they wanted a more flexible schedule for their child’s education, and 33 percent expressed a desire for a safe learning environment.
