LEARNING LOG: Centennial hires directors
The Centennial School District hired two new directors to replace department heads retiring at the end of the school year. Greg Lecuyer will become director of business and operations replacing Rick Larson and Denise Wright will be the new director of student services replacing Lori Silverman.
For the last two decades, Lecuyer has held a variety of leadership roles in school districts throughout Oregon, including Medford, Coquille, Jackson County, Corvallis, Ashland and Portland. He earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Oregon State University.
Wright joined the Centennial School District in 1997 as a learning specialist at Harold Oliver Primary and Lynch Meadows Elementary Schools. Since 2003, she has been student services consultant and is student services supervisor. Wright earned her undergraduate degrees from Linfield College in Social and Behavioral Sciences in 1996 and her master's degree from Portland State University in 1997.
Both will begin in their new positions July 1.
Libraries administer College Placement Test
Those thinking about college can take a standardized placement test at the Gresham Library, 385 N.W. Miller Ave., or the Rockwood Library, 17917 S.E. Stark St. from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 20.
The College Placement Test determines what level of reading, writing and math classes a new student should take. Call 503-988-5123 for more information.
Teens learn stop motion
Students in grades six and up can explore various stop motion and film techniques like pixilation. They can use their own bodies in stop motion tool and learn how to use iPads as video cameras and make a film.
