Seahawks punter meets with fans during Gresham chamber events
Seattle Seahawks punter and Gresham GreyWolves Baseball owner Jon Ryan met with fans at a pair of Gresham Area Chamber of Commerce Try Local Tuesday events, first at Sherwin-Williams paints, 277 N.E. 223rd Ave., and then next door at Crunch Fitness.
Ryan signed autographs, posed for photos and chatted with fans who know him best as a punter for the Seahawks. But his latest venture takes him into the world of baseball.
Ryan is a member of Rose City Baseball, the ownership group that purchased the Gresham GreyWolves on Nov. 2 and announced that the Portland Pickles would join the West Coast League.
Launched in 2016, the GreyWolves is an independent collegiate summer baseball team that plays at Oslund Field at Mt. Hood Community College. The team has spent two years in the West Coast League. For the 2018 season, the GreyWolves will play as an Independent team, squaring off against other teams throughout the western U.S.
Rose City Baseball purchased the GreyWolves on the same day that the The Portland Pickles college team joined the West Coast League.
