Estacada shooting suspect turns himself in

Sandy resident Richard Allen Hess turned himself into the Clackamas County Jail Wednesday night after a warrant had been issued for his arrest that afternoon.

Hess is accused of killing Dominick James Perry of Portland in a shooting that occurred outside of Estacada on Saturday, Sept. 10.

Deputies responded to a disturbance report on Saturday morning in the 35000 block of Southeast Wilcox Road near Estacada to find that Perry had been shot and the suspect had fled the scene.

Perry was transported by Life Flight helicopter to Oregon Health Science University Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s office announced Wednesday afternoon that Hess' abandoned vehicle had been found in rural Clackamas County, east of Estacada.

Hess turned himself in at approximately 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night.
