Fours hikers found on Multnomah Falls trail
A group of hikers who got turned around on a Multnomah Falls trail were found safe and unharmed Thursday night at approximatley 11:15 p.m., said Lt. Steve Alexander, spokesman at the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office.
The four hikers have been identified as Amanda Kidman, 24, of Portland, Anna Marie Wood, 25, of Oregon City, Hilary Ruiz, 24, and Kelly Kolonay, 23, of Hillsboro,
The young women were hiking from Wahkeena Falls to Multnomah Falls earlier in the day, but as they got to the Multnomah Falls trail they found the bridge was closed, said Alexander.
The group started back up the trail, but it quickly became dark and the women got turned around.
They called 911 and deputies told the four to stay where they were on the Perdition trail.
Search and rescue personnel reached the hikers and escorted them back down the trail just after 11 p.m.
The hikers were in good spirits and happy to be off the trail, Alexander said.
