Two hurt in car crash near Reynolds High

by: CONTRIBUTED PHOTO: KOIN 6 NEWS - A driver lost control of a Toyota and crashed near Reynolds High School in Troudale. Two people were seriously injured after their car crashed into a tree Thursday morning, Aug. 1, at the intersection of Southwest 257th Avenue and Southwest Cherry Park Road.

The accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. near Reynolds High School, said Sgt. Steve Bevens of the Troutdale police.

Officers have not determined the cause of the accident, but the driver appears to have lost control of the car before the crash. Speed and weather are likely factors, Bevens said.

The male driver and a female passenger were trapped in the mangled beige Toyota for a short time.

The man was taken by ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center, suffering a broken neck, a punctured spleen and a broken ankle, Bevens confirmed.

The woman also was taken to Legacy Emanuel with serious injuries, he said.

Bevens said a LifeFlight helicopter was called to transport the victims, but it could not land due to weather conditions.

The identities of the victims have not been released. Gresham fire and rescue personnel also responded to the crash.

One lane of northbound 257th Avenue remained closed while emergency responders cleared the scene.
