Man injured in shooting outside Gresham apartments

Police believe incident is gang-related shooting


One man was hospitalized following reports of a shooting Wednesday evening.

Police responded to the 17800 block of Northeast Oregon Street around 6:20 p.m. March 9, and found a man injured by gunfire, lying in the parking lot of the Village Court Apartments. Aurelio Vega-Salazar, 23, of Gresham was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. He obtained serious but non life threatening injuires as a result of the shooting.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his late teens to early twenties, 5 feet 8 inches tall with a thin build.

Police said several shots were fired by the suspect, hitting the victim at least one time and striking a nearby apartment. No one inside the apartment was injured.

Based on witness statements, police believe the shooting is likely gang related. East Metro Gang Enforcement is leading the investigation.
