High school artists finalists in Vans contest

The Sandy High School art department is a finalist for a Vans shoe design competition that could win the school $5,000 for the regional competition and $50,000 for the grand prize.

After a weekend in second place, Sandy moved to first by Monday afternoon. Voting ends at 8:59 p.m. Thursday, May 3.

Students to honor child who died last fall

Students at Woodland Elementary School, 21607 N.E. Glisan St., will honor the memory of Oleg Prystupa at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 4, by dedicating a white Dogwood Tree. Oleg died on Oct. 27, 2011, while visiting family in Ukraine. He was a fourth grader.

CAL hosts reception May 17

The Center for Advanced Learning, 1484 N.W. Civic Drive, will host a black and white informal thank-you party for all its clinical sites, and honor the seniors who participated in the senior-to-senior program, from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, May 17.

Gresham High School's class of 1992 will celebrate its 20-year reunion at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 28, in Grand Central Restaurant and Bowling Lounge, 808 S.E. Morrison Ave., Portland.

Centennial High School's class of 1972 will celebrate its 40-year reunion at 7 p.m. Friday, July 27, at Windows Skyroom in the Red Lion Portland Convention Center, 1021 N.E. Grand Ave., Portland.

Gresham High presents 'Alice in Wonderland'

The award-winning Theatre Arts Department of Gresham High School, 1200 N. Main Ave., will present 'Alice in Wonderland' at 7 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, May 10-12 and 17-19, and at 2 p.m. Sundays May 13 and 20.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors.
