St. Henry Catholic Church in Historic Downtown Gresham offers the following activities throughout the summer and into this fall.
n Vacation Bible School takes place from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, June 25-29. This summer, children age 3 through sixth grade can experience the Rain Forest Adventure, an experience that will take them beyond what they can explore with their senses to discover a living spiritual relationship with God.
Rain Forest transports young minds into a vivid environment of jungle sounds, sights and smells, where they'll dig into the Bible and meet Jesus in every story. Children can enter a vibrant world and dynamic place that echoes day and night with the love of God.
These are five days filled with song, crafts, games, scripture and Bible stories.
Registration packets are available at the church office, 346 N.W. First St.; by calling 503-665-9129; or online at sthenrygresham.org.
Children of all faiths are welcome.
n Celebrating 100 years as a Catholic parish community in the Gresham area, St. Henry will begin its yearlong festivities with a parish picnic at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 15.
n Throughout the summer months, the parish's Youth Coordinator plans a variety of fun events for junior and senior high students and their friends, including bowling, movies, laser-tag and camping.
n All year long you can donate blood on the third and fourth Thursday of each month. St. Henry's parish center has been home to Red Cross blood drives for many years. Check the parish website for times.
n St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization that serves those in need, provides emergency food assistance. For more information, call 503-235-8431. Volunteers are always welcome to help.
n Parishioners can enjoy a community garden that not only offers a chance to plant flowers but to harvest fresh vegetables. Small garden plots are available for planting and maintaining.
