Church offers workshop on ‘naturescaping’

The Fairview Lake Property Owners Association and Smith Memorial Presbyterian Church, 2420 N.E. Fairview Ave., Fairview, will host a “Naturescaping Basics Workshop” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27.

Participants will learn how to design a landscape to conserve water, prevent pollution and create healthy habitat for local birds and wildlife. They also will find out how gardening with native plants can save time, money and energy, and the workshop includes a field trip to a local “naturescaped” garden.

Methodist church to host series on stress

Pleasant Home United Methodist Church. 31632 S.E. Bluff Road, invites all who are struggling with stress, anxiety and/or fear in these harsh economic times, to attend a special series of five worship services beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, and running every Sunday thereafter at the same time until Oct. 28.

Pastor William Taylor’s sermon series titled “Enough: Discovering Joy Through Simplicity and Generosity” will offer practical tools you can use to assess your financial situation and develop a financial plan with a biblical foundation.
