Celebrate with the Mt. Hood Pops

The Mt. Hood Pops Orchestra will present “Celebrating with the Pops” at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, in the theater at Mt. Hood Community College, 26000 S.E. Stark St.

The orchestra will present Mendelssohn’s “Christmas Collage,” Tchaikovsky’s waltz from “Sleeping Beauty,” Tobani’s “Around the Christmas Tree,” Puccini’s “Musetta’s Waltz” and other arias; Jacob’s “Fantasia on the Alleluia Hymn,” Custer’s “It’s Christmas Time” and Kennedy’s “Christmas Sing-along.”

Adult tickets are $15, student and senior tickets are $10, and family tickets are $45.

Art benefit

The “Warm in Winter” Open Studio Fine Art Sale & Benefit takes place from noon to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at Allegri Gallery, 44 N. Main Ave. A reception and drawing for an original Allegri framed painting, “Fragrant Arbor,” will take place from 5-8 p.m. Dec. 7.

This free event will benefit the Homeless Families Program of Human Solutions Inc. Last winter, the nonprofit agency purchased pajamas for children at local emergency shelters. Gresham-based artist Kathy Delumpa Allegri hopes to help such children this season.

“Through my art, I strive to share a vision of beauty and hope to respond to someone else’s greater need,” she says.

‘Leading Ladies

WHO: Sandy Actors Theatre

PRESENTS: “Leading Ladies,” a light-hearted, laugh-a-minute farce by Ken Ludwig.

Two down-on-their-luck Shakespearean actors become leading ladies once they decide to impersonate the long-lost nieces of a dying woman in hopes of sharing in a $3 million inheritance. Things get complicated as other con artists with the same aspirations threaten the scheme, the local minister tries to expose them and love gets in the way. Rated PG-13 (some language, sexual references).
