Almost exactly 100 years after her great-grandfather graduated in a class of 14, Lydia Palmquist donned a blue cap and gown June 13, graduating with the Gresham High class of CONTRIBUTED PHOTO - Lydia Palmquist graduated Thursday, June 13, from Gresham High School, 100 years after her great-grandfather, Raymond Albert Palmquist.

Lydia is part of the fourth generation of Palmquists to graduate from Gresham High, including her brother, Alex, class of 2012. Her brother, Jakob, will graduate in 2014.

Lydia will attend Mt. Hood Community College this fall, with a goal of eventually entering the medical field.

Raymond Albert Palmquist graduated in 1913 from Gresham High. His son, Edward, and daughter-in-law, Niedra, keep his high school portrait framed and on display at the home they share with Lydia, her brothers, father and nephew.

“It makes me feel good,” Edward Palmquist said of Lydia graduating 100 years after her great-grandfather. “It’s a neat deal.”
