Alice Clements celebrating her 100th birthday

Alice Clements

Gresham resident Alice Clements is celebrating her 100th birthday.

She says her strong faith, loving family, healthy eating and a good sense of humor have been the secrets to a long life.

An open house celebration in Alice’s honor will be held 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, at Rockwood United Methodist Church.

Alice was born Aug. 14, 1913. She grew up in Solon, Iowa, and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1934.

Alice taught in a one-room school in Swisher, Iowa. On Sept. 26, 1938, she married Paul Clements, a minister. Paul died in 1985.

Alice was affiliated with Eastern Star, Rockwood United Methodist Church and Rose City Park United Methodist Church. She also is an avid reader.

Alice has two daughters and a son-in-law, Margaret Rounds and Joyce and Steve Walsh; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Rogene Clements; and two grandchildren.
