Sasha La Greide, a 2011 Corbett High School graduate, has been selected for a 2013 Gates Corporation Scholarship for $1,000.

She plans to attend Portland Community College to study diesel service technology.

La Greide was selected from more than 500 applicants. The Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium Inc., the University of the Aftermarket Foundation and other donors and organizations have awarded more than 160 scholarships in 2013 and more than 1,700 since the beginning of the program in 1996.


A 2012 Gresham High School graduate recently performed in New York University's musical production of Marvin Hamlisch's "Sweet Smell of Success" at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts in Greenwich Village, N.Y.

Taylor Johnson was part of the ensemble, a principal dancer and the cathedral soloist. Last year, Johnson was in the Tisch New Theatre production of "West Side Story" as well as the Steinhardt New Student Cabaret.

While at Gresham High, Johnson participated in the drama department productions, most recently as Maria Rainer in the fall 2011 production of "The Sound of Music."

Johnson is a sophomore majoring in vocal performance and studying classical voice.
