Verla Boone of Gresham will celebrate her 100th birthday Tuesday, Feb. 14.
Verla was born Feb. 14, 1912, and graduated from high school in Independence.
On Feb. 11, 1933, she married Dillis Raymond Boone, a descendant of pioneer Daniel Boone. They owned 12-Mile Laundry at Zimmerman's Corner in Gresham from 1953 to 1960.
Verla enjoys gardening and long car trips.
Verla's children are Bob Boone of Mapleton, Utah, Larry Boone of Homer, Alaska, and Betty Lundin of Bellingham, Wash. Her son Charles Boone preceded her in death.
Verla has 22 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
When asked about her secret to a long life, Verla said she looks to the future and doesn't hang on to the past.
