Master Sgt. Matthew Fisher, a 1990 graduate of Gresham High School, plans to retire from the Air Force after 20 years of active duty.
Fisher's retirement date is Friday, Feb. 17. He is a lead production superintendent of the shadow squadron of F-16s at Edwards Air Force Base in Southern California. Over the past 20 years, he has been stationed at air bases in the United States, Italy and South Korea.
Fisher's deployments have included Saudi Arabia for Vigilant Warrior and Balad, Iraq, for Operation Enduring Freedom.
Fisher's wife of almost 19 years, Jennifer Fisher, and his two children, ages 13 and 7, reside at Edwards Air Force Base. His parents, Armin and Raylene Bestel, reside in Warren while the rest of the family resides in the Gresham and Portland areas.
Fisher plans to continue working in the private aviation field.
