Garden party brunch benefits Centennial Park School

Centennial Park School’s open house, brunch and fundraiser will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 3, at 17630 S.E. Main St., Portland.

Along with celebrating the school’s community garden opening in partnership with Portland Parks and Recreation, the event is intended to raise awareness about the school’s programming and fundraise for extracurricular activities such as the first school prom, athletics and music instruction.

The event will feature brunch prepared and served by culinary arts students, garden art designed by students in a “Friendtorship” program for sale and a silent auction.

Centennial Park is a public alternative high school serving middle and high school students who have had difficulty succeeding in traditional school environments. Principal Ajai Huja said the school has a goal of raising $5,000.
